Upcoming Kiwanis Duck Race

BY KATHI MCCLURE

duckThe Nashville Kiwanis Incredible Duck Splash rubber duck race Oct. 27 benefits children’s charitable programs in Middle Tennessee.

Included in more than 20 beneficiaries is GraceWorks’ Our Little Angels program, which provides needed baby supplies for new parents in need.

Kiwanis workers will release hundreds of rubber ducks at 2:30 p.m. onto Richland Creek, by England Park in west Nashville. A number is assigned to each duck. The winning duck will receive $10,000. Second and third prizes are $1,000 each, and the fourth through tenth placing ducks win $500 each.

Our Little Angels provides car seats, cribs, diapers, clothing and other baby items to families referred by area agencies. Since its inauguration a year ago, the program has helped 26 families with their newborns, including two sets of twins.

Ducks are $5 each. To purchase a duck, go to www.kiwanis3.org/ducks. The site lists participating organizations.
