TRAVEL – How to survive another summer vacation

As the final school bell rings, the minds of children and parents alike quickly turn towards the thought of a summer vacation! As your family begins to think about trips to the beach, and dare I say Disney, I am sure that the dollar signs begin to appear in your eyes. How are we going to afford another vacation?

Let me provide you with a few money saving tips to help you survive yet another summer vacation!

- Stay flexible! Different destinations offer different savings based upon when you are able to travel.
- Give each family member a set amount of money to spend, and stick to it.
- Look for coupons and discounts before you leave home.
- Pack refillable water bottles and snacks.
- Bring your own stroller, many attractions charge a premium for stroller rentals.
- Unplug your appliances and adjust your utilities before you leave home.
- Utilize free transportation and shuttles when offered to avoid renting a car.
- Spend a day at your hotel relaxing and away from the attractions. Not only will this save you money, it will allow you to relax on your vacation!

Remember, with a little advance effort and preparation, you can afford the vacation of your dreams. As Walt Disney said, “its kind of fun to do the impossible!” If you have any other tips of your own that you’d like to share, I’d love to hear them!

I hope you have an incredible summer vacation!
