GIRLS’ INDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION

Registration has begun for the 2011 season of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s Girls’ Youth Indoor Soccer League for girls ages 7 to 10. The cost is $55 per participant and includes a team jersey and end-of-season awards (shoes, socks, shorts and shin guards are participant’s responsibility). Register in person at the Indoor Soccer Arena at Crockett Park Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mail-in registration forms are also available at the Indoor Arena at Crockett Park, the Williamson County Indoor Soccer Arena on Downs Boulevard, the Franklin Recreation Complex and the Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood. Mail-in registrants may send applications and fees to: Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way, Brentwood, TN, 37027. The deadline for registration is February 26. Practices start March 15.

VOLLEYBALL TRAINING CLINICS FOR CHILDREN
IN NOLENSVILLE AND SPRING HILL

The Athletics Division of Williamson County Parks and Recreation is pleased to introduce new youth volleyball development clinics for children from 3½ years of age through fifth grade. Clinics will be offered in Nolensville and Spring Hill.

For ages 3½ to 5 years, the “Volleytots” program introduces the game of volleyball in a fun program designed to emphasize movement. The Volleytots program will be offered January 25-March 3 in Nolensville and Spring Hill. A Monday and Wednesday clinic will meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Old Nolensville Elementary Gym, 7250 Nolensville Rd., ($80); registration for Nolensville will be at the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood, or by phone at (615) 370-3471, ext. 10. A Tuesday and Thursday Volleytots clinic will be offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive ($100); register at Longview or by calling (615) 302-0971, ext. 10.

For children in the first through third grades, a “Mini-Volley” clinic will be offered January 25-March 3 at the Old Nolensville Elementary School Gym on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. ($100). Registration for Nolensville will be at the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood, or by phone at (615) 370-3471, ext. 10.

A volleyball training program for fourth and fifth graders will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., January 25-March 3 at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive ($100); register at Longview or by calling (615) 302-0971, ext. 10.

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE REGISTRATION

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) is pleased to announce registration for the Spring 2011 youth coed volleyball leagues for fourth graders through twelfth graders. The purpose of the program is to teach the fundamentals of volleyball to beginners and hone the skills of more experienced players. Registration will begin January 2, 2011 and will end on February 12.

The Introductory League is designed for fourth and fifth graders interested in building basic volleyball skills. Games and practices will be with volley lite balls and players do not have to serve from behind the baseline. Coaches are volunteers and will help explain the rules during game play. Fee: $50 to WCPR.

The Intermediate League is for sixth, seventh and eighth graders who are beginners and want to improve their volleyball skills. This level is for players who have not played regularly or did not make their middle school team or play travel. Games will be played with standard volleyballs and players will not be required to serve from behind the baseline. Fee: $65 to WCPR plus $15 uniform fee to Trimac.

The Advanced League is for sixth, seventh and eighth graders who desire intense and competitive training and have middle school or travel volleyball experience. Players will be required to serve from behind the baseline and will be encouraged to serve overhand. Games will be played according to TSSAA rules. There will be a round robin tournament at the end of the season. Fee: $70 to WCPR plus $15 uniform fee to Trimac.

The Coed High School League is designed to help high school players improve their game through league play. Teams will participate in a round robin competition with a tournament at the end of the season. Games will be played on Thursday nights. Individuals and teams may register. The league fee is $55 per player.

Registration forms will be available starting January 2 at the Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood, 920 Heritage Way and at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Practices begin March 7. Match play will run from March 19 – May 14. Practices will be held at area schools and matches will be played at Academy Park gym (old BGA campus) in Franklin.
